Dealing with Al-Mass (Jinn)
Understanding spiritual 'touch' or possession and how to overcome it through faith and the Word of Allah.
Al-Mass (Spiritual Touch or Possession) occurs when a Jinn inhabits or influences a human body. This can happen due to magic, the evil eye, or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time in a state of heedlessness. The most important thing to remember is that Jinn are creations of Allah and have no power over a true believer who has Tawakul (Trust).
Fear is the Gateway
Shaytan and rebellious Jinn feed on fear. When you are terrified, your spiritual defenses weaken. The first step in dealing with Al-Mass is to realize that you are superior to them through your faith in Allah.
Symptoms of Al-Mass
- Sudden Changes in Personality: Acting or speaking in a way that is not like you.
- Physical Movements: Feeling something moving under your skin or limbs twitching involuntarily.
- Intense Hate for Worship: Feeling disgusted or angry when the Adhan or Qur’an is played.
- Isolation: A strong urge to be alone in dark, dirty, or abandoned places.
- Recite the Adhan aloud in your house if you feel a presence or fear.
- Recite Ayatul Kursi repeatedly - it is the ultimate shield.
- Keep your body and clothes clean and in a state of Wudu.
- Sleep on your right side after reciting the 3 Quls and wiping your body.
- Talking to the Jinn or trying to 'negotiate' with them.
- Showing fear - remind yourself that Allah is the Greatest (Allahu Akbar).
- Staying in the bathroom for a long time or neglecting hygiene.
- Whistling or singing at night in isolated areas.
The Expulsion Protocol
Consistent recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah is the most effective way to drive away rebellious spirits. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Shaytan flees from the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim).
Key Recitation: The Infinite Shield
Ayatul Kursi is the most powerful verse in the Qur’an for protection against Shaytan and Jinn.
اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ
Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-ḥayyul-qayyūm...
Аллаху ля иляха илля хуваль-хайюль-кайюм...
Allah! There is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence...
Аллах! Няма друг бог освен Него, Живия, Вечносъществуващия...
Summary
You are never alone; Allah is with those who believe. The Jinn may be invisible, but their power is weak. Stand tall in your faith, keep your tongue moist with Dhikr, and they will have no choice but to leave.
[!TIP] The Adhan Shield: If you feel a claustrophobic presence or extreme, sudden fear, recite the Adhan (Call to Prayer) loudly in the room. The Prophet ﷺ said that Shaytan flees the sound of the Adhan in a state of panic.
