The Mindset Shift: Sabr & Tawakul
Why the way you think about your struggle determines the speed of your recovery.
The final and perhaps most important step is internal. You can recite all day, but if your heart is full of doubt, despair, or anger towards Allah’s decree, the healing will be slow. A massive “Mindset Shift” is required for long-term victory.
The Power of Perspective
Your struggle is not a punishment; it is a purification. Allah tests those He loves. When you change your perspective from “Why is this happening to me?” to “What is Allah teaching me through this?”, the burden immediately feels lighter.
Key Pillars of the Healed Mind
- Sabr (Patience): Not just waiting, but waiting with a good heart and without complaint to people.
- Tawakul (Trust): Handing your problems to Allah and knowing He will handle them perfectly.
- Husn-uz-Zann: Always expecting the best from Allah, even when things look dark.
- Accept that healing takes time and be okay with that process.
- Celebrate small victories - a better night's sleep, more focus in prayer.
- Keep a gratitude journal - note 3 things Allah blessed you with today.
- Be disciplined even when you feel 'unmotivated'.
- Despairing of Allah's mercy - this is what Shaytan wants.
- Searching for 'magic shortcuts' or people who claim to have instant cures.
- Complaining about your situation to everyone you meet.
- Comparing your healing journey to anyone else's.
The Spiritual Routine
When you feel despair kicking in, use the “Tasbih of Prophet Yunus” (peace be upon him). He was in the three layers of darkness (the night, the sea, the belly of the whale), and this was his mindset shift.
لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Lā ilāha illā Anta, Subḥānaka, innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn...
Ля иляха илля анта, Субханака, инни кунту миназ-залимин...
There is no god but You, Glory be to You! I have certainly been among the wrongdoers.
Няма друг бог освен Теб! Пречист си Ти! Наистина бях от несправедливите!
Summary
Victory is always with patience. You are not “broken”; you are being rebuilt into a stronger, purer version of yourself. Trust the process, trust the path, and most importantly, trust the Maker of the path.
[!IMPORTANT] The Perspective Shift: Instead of thinking “This Jinn/Eye is strong,” start thinking “My Creator is the Most High, and this trial is insignificant in the face of His power.” Fear is the fuel of spiritual harm; Tawakul is its poison.
