Ruqyah Recitation: Direct Healing
The core of the practice. How to recite the Word of Allah over yourself to achieve spiritual cure.
Ruqyah is the recitation of specific verses and du’as with the intention of cure. It is a powerful tool for the believer, and doing it yourself is often more effective than seeking out a Raqi, as your sincerity is highest.
Preparing for Recitation
Before you begin, ensure you are in a state of Wudu, facing the Qiblah if possible, and have a heart full of hope in Allah’s mercy. Ruqyah is not magic; it is a plea for help to the Creator.
The Methodology
- The Intention: Formulate a clear intention for healing from any spiritual harm (As-Sihr, Al-‘Ayn, Al-Mass).
- The Recitation: Read clearly, with focus and slow speed. Don’t rush.
- The Nafth (Blowing): After reciting certain verses, blow into your hands and wipe your body where it hurts, or blow into a bottle of water.
- Recite at least 30-60 minutes daily for serious issues.
- Recite aloud but without straining your voice.
- Have firm belief (Yaqeen) that Allah IS the one who cures.
- Keep a spray bottle of Ruqyah water handy to spray your home.
- Reciting while your mind is on your phone or work.
- Listening to a recording only - reciting yourself is much more powerful.
- Using strange names or undecipherable words - stick to the Sunnah.
- Expecting Shifa instantly - it's a process, not a magic pill.
Key Recitation: The Destroyer (Al-Fatiha)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) called Surah Al-Fatiha “Ar-Ruqyah.” It is the most powerful opening for your session.
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbil-'ālamīn...
Ал-хамду лилляхи раббиль-иалямин...
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all reality...
Хвала на Аллах, Господа на световете...
The Full Session Routine
- Start: I’tiha (Seeking refuge) and Bismillah.
- Middle: Recite Fatiha, Ayatul Kursi, and selected verses from Al-Baqarah.
- End: Recite the 3 Quls 3-7 times each, blowing into your hands and wiping your entire body after each round.
Consistency is key. If you feel heavy, sleepy, or have physical reactions (like yawning or twitching), do not stop. This is a sign the recitation is working and the spiritual harm is being agitated. Keep going until you feel light again.
[!TIP] Ruqyah Water Potency: When reciting over water, keep the bottle close to your mouth. Some scholars recommend lightly blowing (Nafth) into the water after each Surah to transfer the blessing of the recitation directly to the liquid.
